Garnett had this to say about being "rested" tonight:
"It wasn't my decision. So that's where I'm going to leave that. I am trying to be as positive as I can be. This is not up to me, and I'm being positive. I'm trying to listen and go with the plan that was laid out for me, and being positive with that, so I'm trusting Jason [Kidd] and what he has in store for myself and I'm going to embrace it."
Reading that quote makes it quite clear that Garnett is trying very hard to keep an open mind to not playing basketball. He has said in the past what a good friend Jason Kidd is. Knowing how loyal Garnett can be, it will be interesting to see how Garnett deals with a friend telling him what to do during games. Garnett's minutes will be down this year, but no one has discussed how that could affect Garnett. He loves to play the game, and does not like being told what he is not capable of.
This could be the first of many instances when KG is told he needs to take it easy in order to rest up for the stretch run in the playoffs. It will be important that he does not let it hurt his pride. The Nets need him at his best in May and June, not October.
