In what appears to be a frequent occurrence, Vitor Faverani talked with Spanish language Celtics site CelticsSpa this week and had a few things to say regarding his new team and how the transition has been so far.
Let's look at a few interesting points in the interview:
On being a potential starter:
No, not at all. This is the first time I am hearing this… As I told you, the team has not been together, or have a common workout or practice to know the coach’s ideas about the team. However, I can assure you that I am working very hard, I love being here and if I am a starter, let’s go! I would give everything for the team and bleed for this uniform, if needed.
On playing with Rajon Rondo:
Every time they talk about Rondo is amazing, spotting his pick and roll play. I love setting screens, you can ask my former teammates because they stopped me last year because it was almost hurting them, so if he is the player I believe he is, we will get along very well.
The entire interview depicts Faverani as a hard working, honest, and gregarious guy. He said he had already been recognized in Boston while out to dinner with his agent. Maybe a 6'11" Brazilian would not be too hard to spot. He seemed surprised, though.
Could Faverani be a starter for this team? It seems possible with the talent the team has, the youth at the center position with Kelly Olynyk (along with Olynyk's flexibility), and his ability to play defense and protect the rim. He also loves the pick and roll. Maybe if he can also defend it then he'll find some minutes in Brad Stevens' rotation.
