Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has been indicted for aggravated assault for an incident that took place in February at the Revel Casino in Atlantic City involving his fiancée. If charged, Rice could face three to five years of prison time. Rice was indicted by a grand jury and his indictment was increased from a simple assault to an aggravated assault. Rice's fiancée Janay Palmer has been cleared of any charges.
This is part of the due process for Ray. We know there is more to Ray Rice than this one incident.
Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun received some information from the prosecutor's office and took to his Twitter page:
Indictment alleges "attempting to cause significant bodily injury, and/or purposely or knowing causing such injury ...— Aaron Wilson (@RavensInsider) March 27, 2014
..and/or recklessly causing such injury under extremeindifference to the value of human life."— Aaron Wilson (@RavensInsider) March 27, 2014
It is unknown when the final decision on Rice will be made, but you can bet he and the Ravens will be waiting anxiously. Let's hope there is more to this story and Rice gets cleared of the charges. Let's also hope he has learned from his mistake and will not do anything like that again.
