The Baltimore Ravens rebounded from their disappointing week four loss with a hard fought road victory over the Miami Dolphins, and although it was not the prettiest of wins, there were several key contributors.
It was certainly tougher to narrow the list down to five this week as opposed to last week, and we have done our best to give you the top five Ravens performers in week five. These are in no particular order, and honestly there would be a few that have a viable claim to the top player of the game.
Tucker has seemed to completely put the two missed behind him that he suffered in week two as he has not missed since, and he nailed four field goals in the 26-23 victory this week. Not only was he 4-4, but three of those (42, 44, 50) were in no way give me's and the 44 yarder put the Ravens ahead with less than two minutes remaining in the game.
Obviously Suggs was going to make our list, let's face it, the guy took over the game in the fourth quarter on defense and accrued three sacks in the game. Not only did Suggs have a game high three sacks, but he also was second on the team with five tackles in the game. His three sacks totaled 15 yards lost for the opposition.
Smith continues to prove that he is ready to take the next step in becoming a legitimate number one receiver in this league. Despite facing modified double teams that have all but taken away the deep ball, Smith continues to put up big numbers. Sunday he reeled in six grabs for a game high 121 yards and is currently on pace for 86 catches and 1,779 yards this season.
He may not have lit up the scoreboard, but Flacco played one of toughest games he has had to in recent memory as he was getting hit a lot, including a hard shot where the defender's helmet went right into his thigh. He hung tough and completed 19 of 32 pass attempts for 269 yards with one interception. He consistently made big throws on third down and his grittiness was easily visible in this game.
Thompson has been quite a surprise since he returned to the lineup in week four as he has been fantastic in the kick return game and has been contributing as a wide receiver as well. He once again made a difference in the game with his return game as he accrued 128 return yards on his four returns, and average 32 yards per return to drastically help with field position. He also caught two passes.
