The Baltimore Ravens continue to lose in regards to Thursday Night's matchup with the Denver Broncos as it was reported yesterday that WR/KR Jacoby Jones will likely miss 4-6 weeks. In a moment of good news, DT Arthur Jones has been cleared for activity.
Jacoby, first reported by Pro Football Talk, will miss four to six weeks as he suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his right knee when rookie undrafted free agent Brynden Trawick collided with Jones on a punt return. Jones was looking up at the ball and never saw Trawick, while Trawick was following his blocking assignment and never saw Jones.
Jones's unavailability will leave the Ravens shorthanded at both the wide receiver position and return game. Unquestionably, with Jones out for a while, undrafted rookie free agent WR Marlon Brown is going to see an even bigger role in the Ravens offense, but look for Baltimore to sign someone early this week to add some depth at the position.
Lardarius Webb replaced Jones on punt returns on Thursday, while Bernard Pierce replaced him on kickoff returns, so we will see if the Ravens will stick with those two or try out some guys this coming week during practice to see who will handle the return duties.
Arthur Jones, who has been out of action recently due to a non-football related injury, posted on his Twitter account that he received "amazing news" relating to his undisclosed illness. The Baltimore Sun has been reporting that Jones was dealing with a viral infection, but had been cleared for activity with no concerns moving forward. Jones will add even more depth to the Ravens defensive front seven.
Lastly, RT Michael Oher, who also left Thursday's game due to a sprained right ankle, appears to be ok as the injury is not considered serious at this time.
