Joe Flacco Banners and Posters in Denver? NFL Promoting Opening Night

The Baltimore Ravens will play in the NFL season opener in eight days on September 5th, but will be on the road unlike past defending Super Bowl Champions as they travel to Mile High to take on the Denver Broncos. If you drove around Denver right now, you would see several banners and posters of…..Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.

Promoting the opening night kickoff game, the NFL has placed posters and banners, including a gigantic Flacco banner on the side of the Bronco's stadium Sports Authority Field. Obviously the NFL is simply trying to promote its opening night game and what better way than to have the Super Bowl MVP on the banners promoting the event?

The Ravens, of course, could care less about the banners as their only worry is how to find a way to beat the Broncos and stop Peyton Manning and the Denver offense.

Denver on the other hand, is and should be annoyed by this and understandably so. Look at it from this point of view, if the Ravens were hosting the opening night game in 2010 and posters and banners were spread all over Charm City and on M&T Bank Stadium of Ben Roethlisberger. Pittsburgh knocked the Ravens out of the playoffs in 2010 and if Roethlisberger was posted all over the city, Baltimore would go nuts.

That is exactly what is happening in Denver right now. Baltimore knocked out the Broncos last year with the 'Mile High Miracle' and now are traveling to Denver for the second biggest game of the year for the NFL (next to the Super Bowl) because almost all football fans watch this game because it officially starts the season, and the player who was primarily responsible for beating and eliminating you is now being plastered all over their city.

If you think about it, the NFL, whether knowing it or not, has found a great way to get even more people interested and talking about the Opening Night game with this poster fiasco. 'Postergate' as it is being referred to, is now nationally known and the City of Denver is in the spotlight for banners and posters. The NFL has done it again.

Bottom line in all of this is that we are just eight days away from the Ravens beginning their defense of the Lombardi trophy, and if you are curious where the game will take place, just check out the banners in the Denver.
