The Baltimore Orioles have been carried by their pitching staff for the better part of two months now, but the offense appears to be coming around as of late. Are two of the most feared power bats in the Orioles lineup in Nelson Cruz and Chris Davis joining the party?

The Orioles have scored seven or more runs in five of their last seven games and have recorded at least 10 hits in four straight games, which is a welcome sight for a team that has struggled offensively for a while before then.

How much had they struggled? Prior to this recent seven game stretch, the O's had scored seven or more runs just twice in their previous 21 games!

Nick Markakis, Adam Jones, Delmon Young, Caleb Joseph and Manny Machado have led the way offensively for the Orioles over the past month, but the big boppers in Cruz and Davis could be turning a corner.

Over the past 28 calendar days, Cruz has hit .165 with three home runs, nine RBI and 14 hits in 98 plate appearances and Davis has hit .189 with six home runs, nine RBI and 14 hits in 84 plate appearances. That's struggling right?

Both could be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel however.

Over his past ten games, Cruz has rebounded and has hit .250 with two home runs with eight RBI. It gets more promising though as he has collected seven hits, two home runs and six RBI in his last five games and has collected at least one hit in each of those games.

Davis is on the rise as well as he has hit .206 with four home runs and six RBI over his last ten games. Davis has hit four home runs in the last seven games, and even more promising than the long ball is that his swing appears to be coming around as he has collected at least one hit in six of his last eight games.

We understand that hitting .250 and .206 are not hot streaks by any stretch of the imagination, but when you take into account how poorly they had been hitting for 6-7 weeks, they are improvements, and any kind of improvement helps this team offensively.

If Davis and Cruz can continue their recent resurgence, it would be huge for this team as they are currently dealing with a JJ Hardy injury (should play sometime late this week) and the concept of missing one of the team's hottest hitters in Machado for an extended period of time. Davis and Cruz could help pick up the slack that will be there for the offense from missing Hardy and Machado.
