It's time once again for another version of our Baltimore Orioles Minor League spotlight and today, rather than focus on an individual, we thought we would highlight the impressive offense that is taking place by the entire Bowie Baysox team.

Bowie, the AA affiliate of the Orioles, is the only Baltimore affiliate with a winning record thus far this season with a 17-16 record, and they are running circles offensively around the other affiliates in the organization, but rather than focus on that part of it, we wanted to highlight just how good the Baysox have been in their own league.

As a team, the Baysox are hitting a robust .297 as a team with a .350 on base percentage, .430 slugging percentage, .780 OPS, 26 home runs, 161 RBI, 175 runs scored and 499 total bases.

To put that into perspective to the rest of the Eastern League, the Baysox lead the entire league in batting average, slugging percentage, total bases, doubles (69), and hits (344), while their .780 OPS is tied for the league lead, their 26 home runs are just one behind the league lead (Erie) and they have struck out fewer times (165) than any other team in the entire Eastern League.

Contributions are coming from everywhere on the roster and among players with at least 26 at bats, the Baysox have an astounding eight players hitting over .300 with Niuman Romero leading the way hitting at a .368 clip.

Bowie has the second and fourth ranked players in average (Romero and Dariel Alvarez), the second ranked player in home runs (Christian Walker), the top two RBI producers (Alvarez and Walker), and the fifth ranked player in OPS (Alvarez) in the entire Eastern League.

It's not just the Eastern League that the Baysox are dominating in offensively, among all Orioles Minor League affiliates, Baysox players can be found all over the leader board in every offensive category. Bowie has four of the time five players in batting average, three of the top five in hits, two of the top five in home runs, three of the top five in RBI, three of the top five in on base percentage and four of the top five in slugging percentage among all Orioles Minor Leaguers.

The Baysox offense has been extremely impressive this season and has already produced a couple of promotions to AAA Norfolk in Buck Britton and Brian Ward. If you get a chance to attend a Baysox game, take it, because you are going to see a well oiled offensive machine at work.
