Yet another headline that will certainly infuriate a Baltimore Orioles fan base that has had to endure a very tough offseason, former MLB pitcher Brett Tomko is set to throw for the Orioles on Friday, according to Tomko's brother Scott.

Scott reported the news, and since the same news has been reported from some National writers such as Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports and Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports.

Tomko is set to throw on Friday in Southern California and is currently attempting a comeback as he has not pitched in the Majors since 2011. During his 14 year career in the big leagues, he has posted a 100-103 record with a 4.65 ERA and has played for ten different teams.

He did pitch last season, but it wasn't in the Majors, but with the York Revolution in the Independent Atlantic League. Did the former big leaguer dominate? Not exactly, as he went 4-8 with a 4.98 ERA in 19 starts.

Tomko will be 41 in April and apparently has made it a goal to play with all 30 teams, but he is still reportedly clocking his fastball in the low 90's, and what the heck, if the Orioles were willing to let Jack Cust come in and tryout, should we really be surprised the team is willing to go watch Tomko throw?

Baltimore has not done much to please their fan base this offseason, and although they may not sign the guys like Cust and Tomko, the franchise is still sending the wrong message by messing with guys like this as opposed to signing legitimate baseball players. No disrespect to Tomko and Cust, but they are not going to help you get back to the playoffs in 2014.
