Baltimore Orioles All Star center fielder Adam Jones will be in Charm City today as he will be present to participate in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Brooklyn O'Malley Boys and Girls club in Baltimore per a press release from the Orioles.
The ribbon cutting ceremony is for the recently completed renovations to the Technology and Learning Center. The Technology and Learning Center underwent extensive renovations, which began in July and thanks in part to a $75,000 donation from OriolesREACH, the hundreds of members of the Boys and Girls Club, as well as the local community, will now have access to the latest technology.
Jones, who was a member of the Encanto Boys and Girls Club when he was younger in San Diego, continues his efforts of being an active supporter for the Boys and Girls Clubs in the Baltimore area.
The improvements to the facility include 20 new computers, a new ceiling, fluorescent lights and carpeting. The Orioles did not just help raise and donate funds, but also donated a player-used, autographed and authenticated regulation size ping-pong table to the Boys and Girls Club as well.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place today at 4:00pm at 3560 3rd Street.
It is great to see any Orioles player, personnel, or coach helping out in their community, but when one of the faces of the franchise is out there doing things like this, it really makes you appreciate the type of players the Orioles have.
