New York Jets All-Time Franchise Team

The New York Jets have hovered somewhere in-between a joke and mediocre for their entire existence with the exception of one magical season. The easy thing to do would be to put every member of the 1968 Super Bowl III Championship team on the New York Jets All-Time Franchise Team and if anyone tried to say anything just point to the ring, but I can’t do that. I will pay respect to the legends of yesteryear, but I’ll be showing deference to guys I actually saw play. The New York Jets All-Time Franchise Team Quarterback I can’t discount the...

Origin Story: J-E-T-S Jets!Jets!Jets!

Nothing is better than a good origin story. The history of the J-E-T-S Jets!Jets!Jets! chant is no different. Before Brian Costello, the literally challenged Manish Mehta and Calvin Watkins, there was only Rich Cinimi. Before the age of social media, NFL stars like Mark Gastineau were unrecognizable to the public. I base this on the time I saw Gastineau in a Giants Stadium parking lot. It was before a game in the 1980’s and he was a huge star, but nobody recognized his face. However, this isn’t the story about “how things have changed,” this is the story about...

New York Jets Rookie Tight End Chris Herndon Charged With DWI

New York Jets rookie tight end Chris Herndon has been charged with driving while intoxicated (DWI), the latest example that this team just can’t stay out of trouble. Herndon crashed his Nissan Armada in Rockaway Township, N.J. The incident occurred at 4:45 am on June 4th. He injured another driver, Albert Elliott, 76, also from New Jersey. Elliott’s injuries were minor. Elliott was using his Toyota FJ-40 Landcruiser to tow another vehicle at the time of the crash. Herndon was selected out of the University of Miami in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The rookie tight end...

New York Jets are Longest Long Shot in Football

The Bovada Sportsbook in Las Vegas doesn’t believe in the New York Jets. They currently have the Jets as their longest long shot. The popular online gambling site lists the team as 100/1 odds of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in 2018. This makes the Green and White a great choice to put your money on. Age and infighting have made the Patriots more vulnerable than ever. The Bills greatly lack talent on both sides of the ball and the Dolphins quarterback situation is fishy. The New England Patriots have owned the division since Mo Lewis demolished Drew Bledsoe that...

Small School, Big Pass Rush

The New York Jets are betting that Lorenzo Mauldin and Nathan Shepherd will provide a big pass rush in 2018. Both players have more than pressure in common, as Mauldin and Shepherd are also former small school star athletes. It’s not the typical route most players take to get to the NFL, but Mike Maccagnan loves taking chances. He selected linebacker Lorenzo Mauldin in the third-round of the 2015 NFL draft out of the University of Louisville. Defensive tackle Nathan Shepherd came from an even less regarded college football program at Fort Hays State. Now the New York Jets...

New York Jets 2018 OTAs Report

The first of the three-phase NFL off-season training program completed last week. Organized Team Activities or OTAs give rookies the chance to see some live NFL action. They also provide veterans coming off an injury a chance to polish up after missing some time. There was no bigger surprise at OTA’s this season than Teddy Bridgewater. The former Vikings quarterback and fantasy football sleeper was dynamic during practices. A healthy Bridgewater would only be a good thing for the Jets. If he can reach the levels he was performing at before his injury, he could fetch a draft pick...

Christian Hackenberg Caught the “Yips” With the New York Jets

This is the tragedy of Christian Hackenberg. It was day two of the 2016 NFL Draft. The Atlanta Falcons were on the clock at pick 50, when suddenly there was a trade. Bill O’Brien from the Houston Texans made a deal to leapfrog the New York Jets. The Texans took control of the 50th pick. All indications were that O’Brien would be selecting his former pupil from Penn State. The rest is history. The Texans took a pass on the strong-armed phenom. Instead, they selected center Nick Martin from Notre Dame. Hackenberg would fall to the Jets at pick 51. He would go...

New York Jets: Fantasy Football vs. Reality

When it comes to fantasy football the creed all fans must follow is “reality over fantasy.”  This means if you have a player on your fantasy squad that’s about to go up against your favorite real-life team, your rooting interest must reside with your real-life team. This can cause conflicting emotions that may lead to remote control throwing or even worse, poor fantasy draft day decisions. The best way to overcome these issues is to make sure your fantasy team is loaded with players from your favorite real-life professional team. Unfortunately for New York Jets fans, this isn’t always...

Christopher Johnson Shows That the New York Jets Are a Standup Organization

This story has legs. When Christopher Johnson, acting CEO and president of the New York Jets announced that he would pay the fines for players who chose not to stand for the national anthem, politics and sports collided head-on. Though it seems that politics and sports have been colliding more lately, sports as a platform for protest has been common in America’s history from Muhammad Ali to Tommie Smith. The announcement of fines by owners, however, did not have the effect they intended and only now can the players truly declare victory. “Power resides where men believe it resides. It’s...
