Angel McCoughtry continues to be the leading lady for the Atlanta Dream as they slide past the Indiana Fever by a score of 84-79. McCoughtry put the final nail in the coffin for the Dream with a free throw down the stretch and a critical three point play before that. The Dream was lead by guard Tiffany Hayes, who had a playoff high of 23 points and McCoughtry was not far behind with 18 points. Armintie Herrington scored 16 points to go with seven rebounds and forward Erika de Souza added 10 points and six boards.
Indiana's MVP Tamika Catchings tried to do everything that she could to keep the Fever's fight alive as she nailed a three pointer with just over 40 seconds to cut the Dream's lead down to 81-78. Catchings led the Fever with 21 points and seven rebounds. Erlana Larkins, Shavonte Zellous and Karima Christmas all scored 15 points for Indiana. Larkins, forward, had 12 rebounds with her scores.
Game Two will take place in Indiana on Sunday and if the Dream can win one another game, they will be in the WNBA Finals for the third time in four years. The Atlanta Dream has been over looked in the city but they are probably and have been the best candidate to bring a championship to Peachtree Street.
