Before the game, the Toronto Raptors learned that guard Jose Calderon and forward Ed Davis were being traded and that they would be getting Rudy Gay in return. The loss of their point guard did not seem to hurt the Raptors because they found themselves ahead of the Hawks by 13 points in the second quarter. The Hawks were down at the half by a score of 55-45. Atlanta would have to come out in the third quarter and go on a couple of runs to finally get back in the lead (66-64). The Hawks scored 30 points in the third quarter and held Toronto to only 14 and took a lead of 75-69 into the fourth quarter. With 21 seconds to play, Josh Smith found Al Horford under the basket for a wide open dunk to put the Hawks up by one. After a mad squabble under the Raptors' basket, the Hawks were able to keep Toronto from getting a good look at the basket and get the victory.
Kyle Korver continued his streak of games with a made three pointer, bringing the number to 38. He also moved past Dell Curry for 34th on the NBA's all time 3 point list. Atlanta made 10 three pointers during this game and set a team record of five straight games with at least 10 three pointers made in a game.
Toronto was lead by DeMar DeRozan with 23 points and off the bench John Lucas III managed to make 19 points. Alan Anderson scored 15 and Klye Lowry hit 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The Atlanta Hawks will host the Chicago Bulls next and we will have a preview on the way.
