The Hawks started the game without Al Horford, Zaza Pachulia, Devin Harris, Anthony Morrow and, of course, Lou Williams. Despite having a limited line up, Atlanta managed a 53-46 lead at the half. Josh Smith came out and led the charge for the Hawks in the second half as Atlanta rolled out to a 17 point advantage. Charlotte did manage to cut Atlanta's lead down to seven in the fourth quarter before reserve Johan Petro knocked down a three pointer and the Hawks continued to roll on to victory.
Josh Smith finished the game two assists shy of a triple-double; he scored 30 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and dished out eight assists. Kyle Korver shot 5-6 behind the three point line to help him get to his 21 points and Ivan Johnson (in a starting role) hit 12 points and snagged 15 boards. Jeff Teague also reached double figures with his 10 points and he also dropped in six assists.
For the Bobcats, Ramon Sessions came off of the bench to score 27 points and Ben Gordon added 15 points (also off of the bench).
The Atlanta Hawks will return home to host the Boston Celtics, who are coming off of a loss to the New York Knicks.
