Al Horford hit a three pointer (what we thought was a three at the time) to tie the game, only to have it reviewed and ruled a two pointer leaving Atlanta down by one. After a Jeff Teague steal with four seconds left in the game Atlanta seemed to be poised to snatch a victory out of the jaws of defeat. The final play was set up for Lou Williams but it was blocked by Andre Drummond and it shanked off the glass, leaving the Hawks coming up short.
The Hawks were led by Al Horford, he had 18 points and 15 boards. Josh Smith scored 20 points, but only three rebounds. Lou Williams scored 17 points with eight assists and Kyle Korver added 10.
Detroit was led off the bench by Austin Daye with 20 points and six rebounds. Pistons' center Greg Monroe hit 18 points and nine boards and forward Jason Maxiell added 10 points.
Atlanta lost the rebound battle, grabbing only 38 total boards (Detroit had 39 defensive rebounds) and a measly six offensive rebounds. The Pistons grabbed a total of 56 rebounds. Atlanta also were outscored in the paint by Detroit; the Hawks scored 34 points in the paint to the Pistons' 52.
