The Thunder pulled away in the second quarter with Russell Westbrook leading the way, he would score 21 points in the first half. Atlanta went into halftime down 55-41 but they would not give in. They cut the Thunder lead down to 10 points in the third quarter and down to four early in the fourth. That is when Kevin Durant took over, he scored 28 in the second half and 18 of those in the fourth quarter (there was a stretch where Durant scored 13 straight points). Atlanta did not fold or quit, but this night just was not their night.
Jeff Teague led Atlanta with 19 points and nine assists. Josh Smith continued to be a double-double machine, hitting 17 points and 12 boards (on 8 of 19 shooting). Al Horford went 5-14 to get his 13 points and he also got five rebounds. Speaking of poor shooting, Lou Williams went 5-15 to get his 13 points and as a whole the Hawks shot 36-94 (38.3%) from the floor.
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook were the only members of the Thunder to score in double figures, Durant ended the game with a high of 41 points and 13 rebounds. Westbrook finished with 27 points and 11 assists.
The Atlanta Hawks travel to Philly next to take on the 76ers and after that they come home to host the Chicago Bulls on back to back nights.
