With better ball rotations and some good shooting, the Atlanta Hawks got back in front and the battle continued throughout the end of the game. Also in the third quarter, big shot maker, Kyle Korver checked out with back spasms and would not return to the game. Josh Smith scored 13 of his 17 points in the third for Atlanta to help regain the lead. Ramon Sessions threw it in to Ben Gordon who was being fronted by Josh Smith and the ball went across the court and out of bounds. After an official review, it was ruled the Smith did not touch the ball as it passed and the Atlanta Hawks were awarded the basketball. Al Horford was sent to the line to put the game on ice and after struggling from the free throw line lately, Hawks' fans crossed their fingers. Al hit both, putting the final nail in the coffin for Charlotte on the night and the Hawks got out with their sixth win a row.
Josh Smith, Al Horford and Lou Williams all scored 17 points a piece for Atlanta. Smith also had 13 rebounds, six assists, five blocks and three steals. Al had 11 boards, three blocks and six assists to go with his 17 points.
