Ivan Johnson May Get to See More Minutes for Atlanta Hawks November 27th, 2012 at 11:34 PM
By Gordon Robinson
Last season rookie forward Ivan Johnson
became a fan favorite, he brought an edge to the Hawks that had never been seen in Atlanta
but many thought was needed. Johnson got into a little trouble at the end of last season for doing a few things that were frowned upon by Coach Larry Drew and staff and again, he picked up the reputation of having an attitude problem. At the beginning of this season many fans had been wondering if Atlanta
was going to keep Ivan on the team. He is still here, but in the first couple of weeks the Hawks nation questioned why wasn't he being used during the games. Well, as it turned out the Atlanta Hawks
went on a five game winning streak over the Turkey Day week (extended) and in that time Johnson also saw his minutes extended. According to Coach Drew those minutes on the floor will continue in the near future.
"I used (Anthony Tolliver) a lot and I wasn't using Ivan at all or limited, but Ivan has really been playing well. He's been doing a good job for us coming off the bench bringing toughness, bringing energy. I'm going to stay with what's working," Larry Drew told the media (as reported by Chris Vivlamore of AJC.com).
