On Sunday during the Falcon's 34-31 victory over the Buffalo Bills, there were two personal fouls called on the Falcons that could result in the players in question receiving fines from the NFL.
The first was Sean Weatherspoon, who absolutely destroyed Bills quarterback EJ Manuel on a passing play, causing an incompletion. But Weatherspoon led with his helmet and speared Manuel in the stomach, causing the referees to penalize him for roughing the passer.
While it wasn't helmet to helmet, the NFL is highly sensitive about quarterbacks being protected. So it's not out of the realm of possibility that Weatherspoon could be fined for the hit, even though it didn't appear that the hit was malicious. To compound matters, the hit was so hard, that it made Manuel miss a few plays.
The other penalty is almost certainly going to draw fines from the NFL. William Moore had another helmet to helmet hit with a wide receiver, this time rookie wide out Robert Woods. Moore was immediately penalized for the hard hit and is almost assured a fine from the NFL. This would be his sixth fine this year.
