It's been bad. Even with the maligned offensive line at the start of the season, we don't think anyone predicted that the O-line would be this bad and that the Falcons would have suffered so many injuries to so many starters that would absolutely decimate this team.
Despite a 1-3 start, and seemingly insurmountable odds stacked up against them due to their current position, the Falcons still have a chance to right this ship. But it must be done now, and there's a reason to believe that a turn around can actually happen, and that a feeling of hope isn't just blind fandom.
This comes down to one thing, the schedule. After having a tough schedule to open the year with games against New England, New Orleans and Miami, the Falcons are about to embark on the softest part of the schedule.
The division could be out reach at that point (New Orleans is looking like one of the league's best teams this year and are currently 4-0), but a wild card spot is certainly not out of the question.
Collectively these teams have a record of 4-8. While the Falcons have struggled to finish games and are 1-3, they've been in every game they've played in this year. Against these upcoming teams, who appear to have more in common with the only team the Falcons have beaten this year (St. Louis), the Falcons have the opportunity to run the table.
The only question is, are they too banged up and is the offensive line too ineffective to sustain a four game winning streak after such a sluggish start?
We'll find out come Monday night. This will be the first step back to redemption, or the next towards a season that has thus far been a nightmare.
