CB Asante Samuel is out today for the Atlanta Falcons first game of the year against the New Orleans Saints.

This means that if the depth chart is to be believed, Robert Alford will start opposite fellow rookie Desmond Trufant at Corner Back.

Other Falcons who are inactive for today include: RB Josh Vaughan, RG Harland Gunn, DT Travian Robertson, DE Stansly Maponga and S Kemal Ishmael.

It will be interesting to see how Alford responds today and if indeed he will get the start at CB.  The Falcons' rookie CBs are being thrown into the fire for their first game having to face Drew Brees and his effective receiving weapons in WR Marques Colston and TE Jimmy Graham.

Roddy White is set to play today despite his ankle injury, but he will be limited.

Today is game day, Falcons fans!  Enjoy the game, and remember to check back with us after the game for our analysis.

Great take, Ron! This season’s team was a surprise to most people, I think.

Personally, I had them pegged as an 85-87 win team when the season started (best-case scenario).

  2. Ron Juckett says:

They did a complete 180 in 2013. I thought a .500 season would be where they finished.
