Brian Banks, the inspirational man who lost years of his life due to serving prison time for a crime he didn't commit, has been cut from the Atlanta Falcons. Banks was always a long shot after not playing at all in college or the NFL level before the Falcons gave him a chance to make the team this offseason.
Banks didn't have a lot of opportunities to prove himself, often coming into the game well into the fourth quarter. But when he was inserted into games he was able to hold his own. He was never really beaten on too many passing plays and was able to wrap up effectively on running downs when he had a shot at the ball carrier.
Last night he put forth his best effort statistically finishing with two solo tackles and one tackle for loss.
LB Pat Schiller was also released from the squad after recording two tackles himself last night.
It's a sad day for these two players and it's about to get worse for many players trying to make the roster. The Falcons must cut their roster down to 53 players by tomorrow.
We'll keep you updated on any further developments.
