Jordan Walden has been out since Aug. 21 with a sore groin, but the Atlanta Braves hope that his bullpen session Tuesday at Marlins Park will be the next step toward returning from a nagging groin injury.
After believing Walden would just need a few days of rest, he admits that he has caused the setbacks himself, particularly when he rushed into a bullpen session last week and lasted only five pitches.
"I was trying to rush back to the mound, and it kind of set me back a couple times," Walden said on braves.com. "I'm trying to stay away from any more setbacks. But right now, I feel confident enough."
If Walden can get through this session, he'll throw at least one more bullpen session before returning to action as the Braves' setup man.
In Walden's first year as a Brave, he has a 2.47 ERA in 46 appearances.
