Paul Nauert Ejects Atlanta Braves’ Justin Upton, No One Sure Why

Atlanta Braves outfielder Justin Upton was ejected in one of the most unprofessional displays by a Major League umpire in recent memory, when home plate umpire Paul Nauert threw him out as Upton was running down the first base line on Friday against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Upton had previously had words with Nauert after striking out in his second at-bat in the third inning. In the sixth inning, Upton glared at Nauert after the first strike call.

With a runner on second base, Upton then grounded out to second baseman Kolten Wong and dropped an F-bomb at himself, which has really become his trademark in Atlanta. Nauert must have thought it was directed toward his poor umpiring job and ejected Upton halfway down the first base line.

Fredi Gonzalez and Terry Pendleton had to restrain Upton after the play was completed, which is understandable.

MLB needs to reel in their umpires. We've already complained about Angel Hernandez for his idiocy. Don't give fans anymore fuel to distrust a sport already marred with PEDs.
