The Atlanta Braves have expressed interest in signing Cuban defecting shortstop Alexander Guerrero, tweets Dave O'Brien. The 26-year-old would probably play either second base or third base with Braves with shortstop filled by Andrelton Simmons.

Guerrero defected from Cuba in January and has legitimate power and average. Matthew Pouliot reports that he .338, .343 and .310 from 2009-11 and hit 60 homers in 886 at-bats.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins are still considered to be in the hunt for Guerrero.
