The Atlanta Braves travel to Chavez Ravine for a four-game series with the Los Angeles Dodgers starting Thursday night.
The Braves are riding a five-game winning streak and previously swept a three-game set at Turner Field in May. The Dodgers, meanwhile, sit in last place in the National League West, even though they have the highest payroll in baseball.
The Braves' bullpen has been lights out this year to the tune of a 2.65 ERA – the best in the Majors. They have only allowed one run in the last eight games.
B.J. Upton has four hits and four walks in his last five games with two homers and four RBI's. Maybe now he can start living up to that monster contract.
Jason Heyward is still hitting .175, but he has two hits in each of his last three games, including a two-run homer Monday against the Pirates.
Dodgers rookie right fielder Yasiel Puig has destroyed opposing pitchers in a storybook start to his career. In three games, he's hit .417 with two homers and five RBIs.
The Dodgers have just been riddled with injuries and currently have Matt Kemp (hamstring), Carl Crawford (hamstring), Shawn Tolleson (herniated disc), A.J. Ellis (oblique), Scott Elbert (Tommy John), Chris Capuano (shoulder), Chad Billingsley (Tommy John) and Josh Beckett (hand numbness, groin) are all on the disabled list.
Since returning from a broken collarbone sustained in his fight with Carlos Quintin, Zack Greinke is 2-2 with a 6.75 ERA in four starts. Opponents are hitting .398 against him in that span.
Dan Uggla is 2 for 23 (.087) over his last eight games. It's really nothing new, but the Braves still need him to produce.
Even with hits in his last three games, Justin Upton is still hitting .223 since May 1. He hasn't homered since May 17.
