Michael Bourn Still a Possibility for the Atlanta Braves

At the conclusion of the 2012 season, it seemed very unlikely that Michael Bourn would don an Atlanta Braves uniform in 2013. However, with spring training quickly approaching and the Braves still looking for an outfielder, Bourn may find himself manning the outfield at Turner Field once again.

While there is no real evidence that points to Bourn signing with the Braves (other than general manager Frank Wren claiming they hadn't closed the door on Bourn a few weeks ago), the Braves need an outfielder and a leadoff hitter. Bourn did a stellar job in both aspects last season, and he may want to sign a one-year deal with the Braves to increase his value.

Bourn's agent, Scott Boras, may not allow Bourn to sign a one year deal worth less money than the Braves' $13 million qualifying offer in November. With BJ Upton already signed to a long-term deal, the Braves are looking for a short-term answer. Bourn certainly could fit the mold, and it remains to be seen what will happen over the coming weeks.
