When former Atlanta Braves star Andruw Jones heads to play baseball in Japan this season, he will apparently be doing it as a single man. Foxsports.com reports that Jones' wife Nicole has filed for divorce.
Andruw Jones was arrested in the wee hours of Christmas morning for allegedly grabbing Nicole by the ankle, dragging her down a flight of stairs and threatening to kill her while he was intoxicated at their home in Duluth, Ga. Though the divorce papers say nothing of that incident, they do cite the 10-year marriage is ''irretrievably broken."
Nicole Jones is seeking joint but primary legal custody of their 9-year-old son. She is also looking to get child support, alimony and half of the couple's property while requesting a judge renders their prenuptial agreement null and void.
Andruw Jones signed a $3.5 million, one-year contract with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan's Pacific League last month. He is still expected to play in Japan in 2013.Tags: Andruw Jones, Atlanta, Atlanta Braves, MLB
