Former Atlanta Braves center fielder Andruw Jones spent part of his Christmas in a Georgia country jail, foxsports.com reports. Jones was arrested in Gwinnett County on a battery charge early Tuesday morning.
Police responded to a domestic dispute call in Duluth between Jones and his wife at about 1:30 a.m. this morning. He was then booked at Gwinnett County Detention Center at about 3:45 a.m. and released on $2,400 bond at 11 a.m.
Jones was once the best center fielder in baseball, accruing 10 consecutive Gold Gloves from 1998-2007 and hitting 434 homers in 17 seasons.
After a sub-par 2012 season with the New York Yankees, Jones signed a one-year contract with the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles of Japan's Pacific League.
