Atlanta Braves prospects Ernesto Mejia and Evan Gattis are both showcasing some power in the Venezuelan Winter League.

Mejia hit two home runs tonight to push his league-leading total to 14 homers. Gattis also added another long ball to his stat line, giving him 12 on the season.

This power surge is not exactly a surprise, however. Mejia hit 24 home runs to go along with a .296 batting average and 92 RBIs in Triple-A Gwinnett in 2012. Gattis hit 18 homers in just 74 games in his 2012 season.

Both players have a shot at making the big-league club in 2013. Gattis would likely be considered, though not the front-runner, for the left field job if no other player is acquired throughout the offseason. Mejia will have a chance at making the team as a right-handed bat off the bench.

It's unknown at this point whether these two players will make a splash at the big-league level, but their production thus far cannot be ignored.
