In an effort to salvage their struggling season the Arizona Diamondbacks elect to option outfielder Tony Campana to Triple-A Reno, the 27 year old outfielder played in 23 games this year and batted a low .160 with only two RBI along with Four stolen bases.
To counter that move the D-backs bring up Alfredo Marte from Triple-A Reno for a second stint with the team.
Marte appeared in 22 games last year hitting .186 and adding four RBI.
Marte 's numbers in Triple-A this year are pretty good and the D-backs are hoping they can carry over to the Majors, which isn't easy but worth a try with the dire situation the team is in.
Marte played in 26 games down in the minors this year and was batting .342 with one homer and 11 RBI.
Marte will make his first appearance this season on Saturday's game against the San Diego Padres and he will be batting in the line up against Ian Kennedy, which the d-backs know very well and should have a good outing in this game.
At this juncture the team is desperately trying to paste together a winning combination to at least make some sort of a run to respectability, being 10 plus games under 500 it will not be easy as it will take several winning series to get there.
