While we all await the start of training camp later this month, let's take a look at the 2014 pre-season schedule for the Arizona Cardinals.

It's blazing hot in the valley right now so sit back (hopefully by a pool) and view the Red Birds' pre-season slate below:

Aug. 9 – Houston at Arizona: It will be interesting if often-injured running back Arian Foster of the Texans gets some playing time in this first contest. Also, how will first round draft pick Jadeveon Clowney look in his first NFL game? Expect Carson Palmer to play just one series in this one.

Aug. 16Arizona at Minnesota: Larry Fitzgerald returns to his home state in this contest. How much playing time will the Vikings give All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson? How much has Jonathan Cooper progressed for the Cards by this point?

Aug. 24 - Cincinnati at Arizona: Traditionally this is the game that starters play in until the third quarter. So expect to see a lot of Andy Dalton and A.J. Green for the Bengals and a heavy dose of Andre Ellington for the Red Birds. Game Three is usually the most entertaining game of the exhibition slate.

Aug. 28Arizona at San Diego: These two teams will match up about 10 days later in the season opener at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale. This is the last chance for players to make the opening day roster so the starters usually will be on the bench while the others battle to make the 53-man roster. Always an interesting dynamic.
