The Arizona Cardinals have promoted Terry McDonough to vice president of player personnel. He replaces Jason Licht, who became the Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager earlier this week.

McDonough joined the Red Birds last year as an eastern regional scout. He has worked in the NFL for 22 seasons.

Before joining Arizona, McDonough spent 10 seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars, including the last four as director of player personnel. McDonough also worked for the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens and served as an intern with the San Francisco 49ers. McDonough will be General Manager Steve Keim's  chief assistant.

One of his McDonough’s brothers, Ryan, is the general manager of the Phoenix Suns. In addition, his brother Sean is a play-by-play announcer for ESPN. Their father was the late Will McDonough, long-time columnist for the Boston Globe.

The Cardinals are in great shape in the front office.

This is a team on the rise in the rugged NFC West.
