Arizona Cardinals running back Andre Ellington was sorely missed last Sunday against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Hopefully that won't be the case this Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.

The dynamic rookie halfback is recovering from a sore knee and is hopeful of playing in the key divisional clash against the Rams. At 7-5, the Red Birds need every win they can get as they battle for a NFC wild card berth.

"I think by me missing that game kinda helped me out a little bit," explained Ellington via espn.com. “I feel pretty good where I’m at right now.”

That's great news because it's all hands on deck for Sunday. The University of Clemson product did not practice yesterday and is day-to-day for the rest of the week. If all goes well though, he'll be back on the field for the most critical game of the 2013 NFL campaign. He averages six yards per carry.

Ellington was listed as a game-time decision against the Eagles but sat out because head coach Bruce Arians did not want to risk further injury to a player with such potential as Ellington. The rookie understands why his coach is taking the cautious approach with him.

"I mean, just whatever he says. He’s the head coach,” Ellington said. “He calls the shots. When I’m ready, I’m gonna be ready. When I’m out there I’m going to make plays.”
