It's been quite a season so far for Tyrann Mathieu.

The Arizona Cardinals rookie safety is second on the team in tackles (61) two interceptions, one sack and one fumble recovery. He was named NFC Defensive Rookie of the Month for October. For a third round draft pick, he looks like one of the steals of the 2012 NFL Draft.

What is also impressive is that Mathieu believes teams are not throwing to his side of the field.

“No question, they're going away from me," Mathieu said via espn.com. "I'm starting to feel like [Arizona cornerback] Patrick [Peterson] out there. Game's getting boring, you know? You just got to stay focused. Obviously, somebody's going to try me out there. You know, Drew Brees tried me. Matt Ryan tried me … We got Andrew Luck next week. Hopefully he tries me. I'm just looking forward to making plays."

Wow, that's confidence. That's Mathieu. He is a playmaker. He is exciting. He is confident and is ready for any challenge that may come his way.

Combined with Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson, Mathieu helps the Red Birds own one of the best secondaries in the NFL. Peterson has been a mentor to the LSU product and has come away impressed.

"He's doing nothing but tremendous things for us this year," Peterson stated. "I'm always in his ear, telling him we can't go to sleep. We can't get bored out there because at any given time, any given play, they can catch a ball for 60 yards. We don't want to be the guy that gives up that play and give them a life."
