Head coach Bruce Arians could certainly feel it.
"I felt the energy was outstanding,” Arians said via azcentral.com. “We set a new level of energy that we have to continue to have every week. I think we found a little bit more about ourselves, energy-wise, about how good we can be.”
An impressive win and a 4-4 record heading into their bye week will do that to a team. If the Red Birds can play with the same kind of energy level, especially on defense, as they did against the Falcons, they'll be a team to reckoned with the rest of the way.
The Cardinals practiced yesterday and will do so again today before taking the rest of the week off. They won't play again until they face the disappointing Houston Texans at University of Phoenix Stadium on Nov. 10.
Rashard Mendenhall (toe) is not expected to practice this week, Will he still be Arizona's starting running back when he is ready to return to action? That question remains to be answered after Andre Ellington's stellar 154-yard rushing performance on Sunday. Ellington looks like a future star.
In the meantime, the Red Birds are flying high following their dominating effort against Atlanta. Although they're three games behind the NFC West leading Seattle Seahawks, the Cards are still alive in the playoff hunt.
That's what really counts at this time of year.
