Acho suffered a fractured fibula and Alexander suffered a Lis Franc injury to his right foot , head coach Bruce Arians said earlier today via azcentral.com. Both players will be placed on injured reserve.
Not only that but safety Rashad Johnson lost the tip of his left middle finger making a tackle just before halftime yesterday. Johnson did not return to the game and spent the second half having his finger repaired. Doctors were not able to re-attach it, and they shaved the bone and covered it with skin.
There is a chance Johnson could play this Sunday against Tampa Bay. It all depends on how the injury heals and how well Johnson deals with the pain.
The Red Birds (1-2) are staying in Florida this week so they don't have to adjust to the time change. Expect to see some reinforcements soon.
"Injuries happen, this is the NFL,” Arians said via azcentral.com. “No one plays with the same 22 guys all the time. You hate for them to happen at the same position, but that’s usually the way it happens. We’ll make decisions on where we go with the roster in the next couple days in replacing those guys. Obviously, they’re core people. They’re energy will be missed as much as their play. They’re both high-energy guys. As a football team, that’s going to be hard to replace, but somebody is going to have an opportunity to step up.”
That person could be fourth-round pick Alex Okafor, the rookie linebacker from Texas. Okafor was active was the first time yesterday.
