The shuffle that happens every year once teams around the NFL make final cuts came to the desert as the Arizona Cardinals shape their final roster in advance of their season opener in St. Louis this coming Sunday.

The Red Birds claimed two linemen via waivers - offensive tackle Bradley Sowell (formerly of the Indianapolis Colts) and defensive tackle Alameda Ta’amu (cut by the Pittsburgh Steelers). The Cardinals then released linebacker Kenny Demens (who is practice squad eligible) and cornerback Bryan McCann. McCann's release means that Arizona will carry six defensive backs into their battle with the Rams.

The release of Ta’amu was news in The Steel City. The University of Washington product was a fourth-round pick in 2012 who didn’t have much of a rookie season after being involved in an auto accident. He was then placed on probation..

The Cardinals now have six defensive linemen and ten offensive linemen on their 52-man roster.

Head coach Bruce Arians is quite familiar with Sowell. Arians was the offensive coordinator then interim head coach for the Colts last season when Sowell played ten games as an undrafted rookie for Indianapolis. Now they're reunited in Glendale.
