That didn't last very long.

Kicker Dan Carpenter is among ten players that have been cut by the Arizona Cardinals. Carpenter, brought in to provide competition for Jay Feely, had his only field goal attempt blocked by the San Diego Chargers last Saturday and is now looking for work.

Feely will return as Arizona's kicker for a fourth consecutive season.

Wide receiver Nick Edwards was among the other players that were let go. The Red Birds must reduce their roster size to 75 by today's deadline.

The remainder of the cuts look likes this: G Deveric Gallington — DT Jonathan Mathis — ILB Korey Jones — DE Cordian Hagans — CB Ronnie Yell — T Joe Caprioglio — WR Jarett Dillard and QB Caleb TerBush.

TE Rob Housler has high ankle sprain

Tight end Rob Housler has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain. The El Paso, TX native suffered the injury during Arizona's 24-7 loss to the San Diego Chargers last Saturday in Glendale.

It looks like Housler will miss Arizona's season opener at St. Louis on Sept. 8 and could be out longer than that. High ankle sprains can take a long time to recover from so Housler is hopeful he can be a quick healer.

The Florida Atlantic product paced all Red Birds tight ends with 412 receiving yards in 2012.
