The Arizona Cardinals have gone through a dozen days of training camp now and it's been a spirited one at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale.

Let's take a look at some recent news and notes emanating from head coach Bruce Arians' first camp:

***The Red Birds have signed centers Kyle Quinn, who played at Arizona, and Deveric Gallington, formerly of Texas Tech, and also added former Texas A&M defensive tackle Jonathan Mathis to their 90-man roster. All three are undrafted rookie free agents. Quinn was recently released by Philadelphia and Gallington was cut by the Oakland Raiders back in May. The Cardinals also waived defensive end Everette Thompson and wide receiver LaRon Byrd.

***Pro Bowl cornerback Patrick Peterson continues to take reps at wide receiver. In training camp, Peterson has a package that may include up to 15 offensive plays. This scenario bears watching. Very interesting.

***Did you know that Arians has instituted a no-fighting policy in training camp? Yes, that is indeed the case.

"We don’t play the Cardinals,” Arians told azcentral.com. "That’s between those guys and me. I won’t be like Coach (Bear) Bryant and bring out the boxing gloves.”

Arians has not said what type of punishment or fine he would institute if a player decided to fight on his watch.

Interesting concept. Don't forget – the Red Birds open their pre-season slate tomorrow against the Packers in Green Bay. Football is back and it should be a very interesting 2013 NFL campaign.
