Palmer – of the 189 career touchdown passes – does not need development at this stage of his career but he could always use a little fine tuning. Every signal-caller can. Palmer has been impressive so far in OTA's and mini camps and Arians likes what he sees so far.
The Red Birds head coach was asked if Palmer is the quarterback he expected him to be.
"He's actually better, " Arians told nfl.com. "I didn't know he was such a gym rat. I mean, he's in there studying tape, he wants to win so bad he'll do whatever it takes. And I'm really impressed with his leadership ability and the things that he's doing for us."
Of course the true test will really come when the regular season begins. After Arizona's disastrous quarterback carousel, Palmer is a breath of fresh air in the sweltering desert heat.
That has made the 60-year-old Arians a very happy man.
"It's fun to come to work every day," Arians stated.
Palmer is one of the main reasons why.
