This should be fun to watch this upcoming NFL season.
What will be fun to watch? Carson Palmer as the Arizona Cardinals' new quarterback throwing to All-Pro wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Palmer is easily the best signal-caller the Red Birds have had since Kurt Warner retired a few years ago.
Having Palmer as his new quarterback has Fitzgerald excited after Arizona's latest round of OTAs concluded on Thursday.
"He can throw the ball,” Fitzgerald said of his new quarterback via azcentral.com. “There’s not a throw he can’t make. He’s got great touch on intermediate passes — he can put zip on them or he can feather it in there. He’s got a tremendous arm.”
That right arm of Palmer's has thrown 189 touchdown passes in his NFL career. Hopefully he can toss 10-14 more Fitzgerald's way this upcoming season as the Red Birds prepare to compete in the now rugged NFC West.
Palmer played for the Raiders last season and Fitzgerald played for former Arizona head coach Ken Whisenhunt. Both are hard at work learning a new offensive system under the guidance of head coach Bruce Arians. Arians, remember, helped develop Andrew Luck in Indianapolis.
"The progress that we’ve made thus far in the OTAs and minicamp next week is not going to be something that’s going to stop,” Fitzgerald explained. “We’re going to keep working in July and hopefully we’ll arrive in training camp and roll into preseason and the regular season and into the playoffs. That’s our goal.”
That would be sweet music indeed to all Cardinals fans.
